Weaving & Bag Construction Retreat

CLASS, DATES & TIMES: Wed, Nov 4, 2026 thru Sun, Nov 8, 2026, 9am - 4pm
COST: $1,465 for class, with $50 loom rental and $50 for straight threading of the loom. Retreat cost does not include lodging.
EXPERIENCE LEVEL: Must have experience with at least 4 shaft loom and basic sewing machine skills.
DESCRIPTION:
Learn untraditional design, set-up techniques, and leave with a finished project in hand. This immersive 5-day retreat with Kathrin Weber teaches her signature setup techniques while you weave stunning fabric for either a Japanese Market Bag or an Over-the-Shoulder Hobo Bag. Extra fabric might become pillows, runners, or more. Class room, hand-dyed warps available, for purchase at beginning of class. Additional warps will be available to purchase and take home for future projects.
MEALS: Welcome dinner will be provided Tuesday, November 3rd, 6pm and lunches will be provided on each of the five days.
STUDENTS SHOULD BRING:
Weaving:
4 or 8 shaft floor loom
Shuttle *if you choose to weave the cross-shoulder bag project, you should bring 1 boat shuttle and one stick/ski/rag shuttle
Weft yarn
Scissors
1” painters’ tape (Instructor recommends 1”, wider tape does not work as well)
Paper or sticks for winding warp on 4.5 yards (Be sure to bring enough for the warp length)

Measuring tape
Sewing:
Sewing machine*
Pins/clips
Thread
Kathrin will send additional information about sewing notions prior to the retreat.
*If you are traveling and can’t bring a sewing machine let Danette know and she will work to find extra sewing machines available to share.
